Will try again lol

After my previous post, we had an opportunity to move back into the city so it was all busy busy busy, planning and starting to pack etc.

Then it all went a bit pear shaped, so long story short, we are staying where we are - semi rural, just outside the city.

Oh and we are getting a puppy!!!!!

So, going back to me trying to be greener in a non hulk like way, I will be trying the Living Lent challenge, which will start tomorrow.

Today I have ordered BPA free water bottles for the whole family from Amazon (£2.40 each and £10 for a bigger bottle for my son who goes to the gym a lot).

As well as participating in the challenge, I will also be attempting to go totally electric and appliance free for an hour a day for the next forty days.  I will warn the rest of the family what time this will be each day (this does not include when we are out - whats the point in that) and it obviously does not include the fridge and the freezer (although I will look into this as I'm sure it would be ok for just one hour?????)

(The next Earth Hour will be on 30th March 8.30pm to 9.30pm).

So my challenges will be:

  • Eating less meat, and the meat I do buy I will try and get from the butchers
  • Buying loose fruit
  • Baking my own bread, not using the bread maker
  • Cooking everything from scratch, this includes making all my own sauces (after I have used up the sauces I currently have in my cupboard)
  • Not going food shopping until I have used up almost everything I have in my food cupboard and freezer.
  • Not buying anything new
  • Planting my own vet (we have two allotments so have plenty of space to start)
  • Not buy ANY plastic bags when out shopping - will just try and remember to take my reusable ones with me (that's a challenge in itself!)
Well that's a start - will see how it all goes.
